Junior Department

Children, twelve and under, enjoy visiting the third floor of the library. Materials selected especially for their age/interests are arranged in a comfortable area that includes a cushioned bathtub for reading. Staff provides storytimes as scheduled.

Summer reading activities during the months of June and July provide special programs for ages 6 – 12 (Friday afternoons).

A special textbook collection features the required texts for Mt. Vernon City Schools (District 80). Parents and children may use the materials in the library. The library also makes an effort to select materials featured in the Accelerated Reader program.
